Ajuga reptans 'Burgundy Glow', commonly known as bugle, is a low-growing, mat-forming perennial noted for its striking variegated foliage in shades of cream, pink, green, and burgundy. In spring to early summer, short spikes of vivid blue flowers rise just above the colourful leaves, creating a strong contrast and adding seasonal interest at ground level.
The flowers provide an early nectar source for bees and other pollinators, contributing to garden biodiversity. Its spreading habit makes it an excellent choice for ground cover in borders, under shrubs, and along woodland edges, where it helps suppress weeds while offering year-round foliage interest.
